The feedback I wasn’t expecting from people

When I set out on this journey and went online, I was afraid I would get laughed at. After all, aren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses those weirdos that knock on your door?

Well, my experience has been entirely contrary.

I have had people write to me anonymously to ask advice on how to leave! I am not an expert on this, of course. It is not an easy thing to do. It will involve losing your family, no doubt. And this guy had a little girl he didn’t want risk losing.

I have other people send me gifts and welcome me, as they too have left the Jehovah’s Witnesses and they have reached out to me to connect.

I have had people try to get them to help them unwitness some Witnesses. That is a very hard task.

I received a beautiful phone call from a friend. He left a message saying he wanted to “talk to me about my writing style.” After some chit-chat, I asked him, what recommendation he had for me. “What should I do to improve?” His response shocked me, “Nothing at all, I am just ringing to tell you your writing style is so innocent, so compelling. I want to read more!”

I have many followers on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram who are happy to share my story. I am so glad.

The book has almost been finished, to send to a publisher. I am putting last minute touches on it.

I want to thank everyone for their kindness. It has been overwhelming.

  1. Thank you for being vulnerable enough to tell your story in public. I was raised a witness as well and spent 23 years of my life as one, of many. I would like to help in any way I can even if it’s to buy a book when they come out and let you know you have one more very supportive person out here.

    Be at peace.

    1. Tim,

You’re so kind. I’m certainly always second guessing what I’m doing, but like you said, I’ve had enough and I want to let everyone know what’s going on. I also post excerpts of my book there on Facebook , so please follow that. (Click the Facebook link, you don’t need Facebook to read the posts I don’t think.)

Thanks again, and best wishes to you too. xxx
